HOW TO READ THIS ATLAS

A model is a useful simplification.

This is a curated starting library, not a claim to contain every model. It brings together formal models, empirical findings, practical heuristics, and familiar metaphors. Those categories have different kinds of evidence.

“Origin” identifies an early contributor or popularizer where appropriate; it does not imply that one person invented an entire tradition. Examples and diagrams are illustrative unless explicitly identified as research data. Use models together and look for evidence that could disprove your first explanation.

Selected source anchors: Juran on Pareto · Kruger & Dunning (1999) · Kahneman’s Nobel lecture · Bounded rationality · System dynamics. Individual entries include further reading; this is an educational synthesis, not a systematic literature review.
